Government

The City of Anamosa operates under a mayor-council form of government.  The mayor and city council members (6 seats) are elected by the citizens and meet twice a month to oversee general administration, enact legislation, establish policies, and set the budget.

By authority of the city council, a professional city administrator is appointed to manage the daily administrative and operational aspects of the City.

The City of Anamosa is a full government service community with 7 departments including City Hall, Police, Fire, Streets, Public Utilities (Water & Wastewater), Library, and Parks & Recreation.
